Understanding and Leading the Multigenerational Workforce
Today’s university workplace can be an exciting, though not always harmonious, mixture of multiple generational groups. The world of purchasing and procurement can be especially delightful cross generationally. Successfully leading, navigating and managing requires being able to understand, relate to and communicate with everyone in the workforce, from each generational group. Understanding generational worldviews, traits, preferences and styles can improve effectiveness, team building and harmony, and employee recruitment, satisfaction and retention. This session will address the most current generational issues and dynamics with immediately applicable suggestions for being an effective leader, and in developing the most productive and positive working environment.

KEYNOTE: Have a Nice Day-- Applying the Research in Happiness Studies and Positivity Psychology
Personal happiness and positivity have declined precipitously in recent years with record levels of stress, anxiety, and depression reported across campus in the student body, administration, staff and the faculty. It is not an overstatement to say that everybody is on their last nerve with many teetering toward hopelessness. Distress is contagious. Luckily, little know research in the fields of positive psychology and happiness studies offer powerful insights into the our abilities to live happier, more positive and more meaningful lives. Easy to understand and apply cognitive, behavioral and interactive tools can have significant impacts on our abilities to feel physically better and emotionally happier, and to develop more positive perspective skills, positive relationships and positive working environments. This program will offer effective tools based on science and biochemistry we can apply to the betterment of ourselves, our workplaces, our families and our worlds.

Gettting Off the Implementation Island
UT Arlington recently completed a three-year journey to the implementation of a full-service travel and expense platform, including P-Card reconciliation via an API interface within a shared ERP instance with five other institutions. Sound difficult? It was! There were many starts and stops along the way. This session will outline lessons learned and pitfalls to expect when implementing a large-scale platform of this nature.

We all have starry-eyed dreams of adopting robust, high-end e-bidding systems-but for many small and medium-sized institutions, budget constraints make that out of reach. Instead of waiting for a big-ticket solution, what if you could build an efficient, automated process using tools you already have? This session will explore how ChatGPT, Google Forms, and Google Sheets can work together to streamline bid requests, legislative approvals, and evaluatory scoring-reducing manual work, increasing accuracy, and ensuring compliance. Learn how to automate procurement workflows without expensive software, making your process faster, more transparent, and easier to manage. Through a hands-on demonstration and discussion, you'll leave with practical, budget-friendly strategies to modernize your procurement operations today.

This session tackles the real reasons people resist change: fear, mistrust, and perceived loss. You'll leave with insights you can use and a few hard-earned lessons you won’t have to learn the hard way.
