In 2027, CA for the Arts celebrates 20 years of championing arts and culture as essential to vibrant communities across California. As we enter this milestone year, we are reflecting on how far we have come, and on the future we can create together.
For 20 years, our work has been rooted in a fundamental belief that artists are not only creators. We are innovative advocates, dedicated organizers, community leaders, and essential partners in building healthy communities, thriving local economies, and a more vibrant California for all.

That belief is at the heart of our 2027 Arts, Culture & Creativity Month theme: Create to Change: Building Our Civic Power.

Across California, people support the arts every day. We attend performances, visit museums and cultural spaces, purchase art, celebrate local artists, participate in festivals, and experience the creativity that gives our communities their distinct identities. But supporting the arts must also extend beyond participation and patronage. A thriving arts and culture ecosystem requires civic engagement, collective advocacy, and communities willing to use their voices to shape the policies, resources, and systems that determine our shared future.

As part of Arts, Culture & Creativity Month 2027, our 5th Annual California Arts & Culture Summit will bring together voices from across the state to explore what it means to build civic power through creativity, culture, advocacy, and collective action.

Together, we can Create to Change and build the civic power necessary to shape a more creative, equitable, connected, and vibrant California.
