Mission: Software Possible
To strengthen software security, privacy, and accessibility, our university launched a joint initiative between IT and Purchasing. Beginning with a simple review questionnaire in 2019, the process evolved into a policy-driven workflow integrated into the campus procure-to-pay system, ensuring all software requests undergo compliance checks with tools like HECVAT. This cross-functional approach has increased visibility, reduced risk, and supported smarter purchasing decisions. Ongoing efforts include exploring FedRamp/StateRamp and building a catalog of pre-approved tools, lessons and strategies that other institutions can adopt will be shared in this session.
