Minithon Instructions - Shuttle After Race
1.) Drive to the start of the Minithon located at Potawatomi Woods on East Dundee Road. 42.139897, -87.902771 You will want to arrive between 9:30AM - 10:00AM. There are NO before shuttle before the minithon. The shuttle will take place after the paddle. Shuttle details are further down in these instructions. (Another note: the Minithon is not timed, you can time yourself by noting the time of when you start and finish)
2.) After arriving at the Minithon start, park and unload your boat and paddling equipment. Pickup your rental boat if you rented one. If you need a rental boat, you need reserve a rental boat ahead of time a week before the race. Also, you need to verify your livery does the rental for the minithon. Click Here for boat Rentals.
3.) Pickup the your race numbers at the registration table. Place the numbers on your boat. Above the water line.
4.) The minithon starts any time after 10:30AM and starts last 12:00PM. You are ready, you can start.
5.) Have a great paddle and see you at the finish line! R.A.C.E.S. (Amateur Radio) volunteers will be at a couple points along the river. They will check your boat number as you go past. You can shout out your boat number to them when you see them as it can be hard for them to see your numbers. R.A.C.E.S will be monitoring the weather as the event is underway. If a severe weather warning is issued, R.A.C.E.S. officials at the bridges will require participants to get off the river. If the weather allows safe return to the water, the event can be completed. R.A.C.E.S will also help with Emergency communications that will be available at various locations along the course. If for any reason you must quit the event please notify a race official.
6.) After you pass the finish line volunteers will help you get your boat to the boat coral. (Or return your rental boat) Pick up your t-shirt and race patch from the t-shirt tent. Join the the post race party, there will be vendors, a food truck, and band at the finish line. (Race results will be posted for the full marathon only - again the Minithon is not timed.) The awards ceremony for the full marathon will be at 2:00PM, located at the finish line party on the band stage.
