The California LULAC Foundation

Our Story

The California LULAC Foundation (CLF) was established in 1973 with the mission of providing scholarships to high school students across California, helping them pursue higher education. Originally, the foundation awarded scholarships through a statewide application process, with a scholarship banquet held each spring in Orange County. Over the span of 20 years, under the leadership of Vera Marquez, CLF supported over 16,000 students, awarding $500 scholarships to recipients from LULAC Councils across the state.

After Mrs. Marquez stepped down due to health reasons, the foundation became inactive. However, under new leadership CLF was rechartered in 2013, raising funds and revitalizing the foundation’s mission. Since then, the foundation has expanded its efforts, providing funding for scholarships, special projects, and statewide annual convention.

Our Mission

To empower Latina/os in California through education, leadership, economic development, and civic engagement, ensuring that they have the tools and resources to lead successful lives and make a positive impact in their communities.
