Professional Bio

Dr. Mecker Moller MD, FACS, is a practicing surgical oncologist with a focus on peritoneal carcinomatosis. She is currently the Director of the HIPEC program as well as the Surgical Oncology Fellowship Program at the University of Chicago, Pritzker School of Medicine. She was previously Director of the HIPEC program at Sylvester Cancer center, Associate Program director of the Breast Oncology Fellowship and the Director of UM NextGEN Global Health and Surgery Pathway at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Moller completed her medical training in the National Autonomous University if Nicaragua (UNAN) and completed her residency in General Surgery at Michigan State University, and later completed Surgical Oncology Fellowship at Moffit Cancer Center. Dr. Moller became the first Nicaraguan foreign medical graduate surgeon to become a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. She currently holds the Visiting Professorship award for the Latino Surgical Society (LSS) and American Women Surgeons (AWS), and continues to mentor both women and latinos in the field of surgery.
