Wednesday, March 26, 6:30–8:00 p.m. PT
Plaza Room I-III, Third Floor, JW Marriott Los Angeles L.A. LIVE
Kick off #AWP25 with an evening of recognition, solidarity, and support. Join us as we support the nonprofit advocacy organization Arts for LA, which provides crucial support for communities, artists, and organizations to advocate for an equitable, healthy, and vibrant Los Angeles region through the arts. Visit their website for wildfire relief and resources for artists and creative workers.
Our host Amber Tamblyn, a third-generation Angeleno, is deeply connected to the city and passionate about supporting its creative community. She is the author of six books across genres, including the critically acclaimed bestselling novel Any Man, and the creator of the popular Substack newsletter Listening in the Dark. In addition to her work as a writer, she is an Emmy- and Golden Globe–nominated actress, an award-winning director, and an advocate for artists and writers. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, New York Magazine, The Iowa Review, and the Poetry Foundation, among others.
We are proud to honor and celebrate the winners of AWP’s awards: the AWP George Garrett Award for Outstanding Community Service in Literature; AWP Small Press Publisher Award; AWP Writing Organization Award; AWP Intro Journals Project; and AWP Prize for Undergrad Lit Mags, in addition to the AWP Award Series prizes.
You will have the opportunity to make a direct donation to Arts for LA throughout the evening. We hope you’ll join us to uplift our literary community and make a meaningful impact.
Complimentary admission with suggested $15 minimum donation to Arts for LA. One free drink ticket per guest and appetizers will be available.
AWP is grateful for the support of Live Talks Los Angeles, celebrating 15 years of stories, ideas and conversation.
