Minor Attendee Policy

The AWP Conference & Bookfair is a professional event and not all content is appropriate for individuals under 18 years of age. All individuals under 18 must be accompanied at all times by a parent or chaperone. Attendees under 18 may register at the $25 Minor/High School Student rate at the Help Desk onsite for the full conference. If the parent or chaperone is only attending in this capacity, they are not required to pay a registration fee, but their information must be collected at the Help Desk upon arrival and the chaperone must agree to AWP's terms for youth attendance. Attendees under 18 will be required to wear a wristband with the contact information of their onsite chaperone.

Please visit the Help Desk to the right of the escalators in the West Lobby of the LA Convention Center upon arrival to register and pick up wristbands for attendees under 18 years of age.

High School Teachers Bringing Students

High School teachers may bring a group of high school students to the conference. An individual teacher may only bring up to five students, &  the students must be juniors or seniors in high school. Students must be chaperoned at all times. Teachers must register for the conference at the rate appropriate to them (member, non-member, etc). The teacher's registration purchase will allow for up to five complimentary high school student registrations. Student information must be provided in advance by March 1, 2025, and the teacher must agree to AWP's policies on high school attendance. High school teachers and students can pick up their badges at the Help Desk onsite. All students under 18 will be required to wear a wristband with the contact information of their teacher.

High School Students 18+

If you are over 18, currently in high school, and would like to redeem the $25 high school rate, please bring with you a valid high school student ID or other proof of current high school enrollment with you to the Help Desk.

Parents/Guardians Bringing Young Children

Parents/guardians are permitted to bring their child to the conference & bookfair, provided that the child is chaperoned at all times. AWP provides dedicated space for lactation and nursing. Please see the #AWP25 schedule for location and details. AWP does not provide childcare services.
