The AWP Conference Community Scholarship aims to increase access to the annual conference and bookfair. While anyone may apply, AWP encourages those who identify as people of color, disabled, LGBTQIA+, and/or low-income to apply. Seventy-five percent of community scholarships are awarded to local residents in the region where the conference is held. Membership is not required to apply. The AWP Conference Community Scholarship launched in 2021, and since then hundreds of writers have been able to attend the conference at no cost, or a significantly reduced cost. Apply for the AWP Conference Community Scholarship below. Applications close on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, at 11:59 p.m. ET. All applicants will be notified of a decision by the end of December 2024. A scholarship award includes full admission to AWP’s bookfair, meetings, panels, readings, and public receptions for the duration of the conference period. Please wait until you are notified of a decision before purchasing a registration. All sales are final and nonrefundable. Individuals who purchase a registration cannot be reimbursed and are ineligible for a scholarship.
